Key takeaways:

  • An AI agent does more than answer a prompt. It also acts on your behalf by planning, drafting, analyzing, routing, and coordinating work.

  • Best for running cross-functional work with agents on one plan: Asana AI Teammates

  • Best for general-purpose reasoning: ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini

  • Best for CRM and service work: Salesforce Agentforce and Microsoft Copilot

  • Best for no-code cross-app automation: Lindy, Zapier Agents, Gumloop, and Relevance AI

October 30, 2026: This comparison is written by Asana, and Asana AI Teammates are assessed against the same criteria as every other tool.

Your ops lead wants an AI agent that can triage incoming requests, but your marketing team needs a tool that can draft a campaign brief from a single prompt. Your IT, HR, engineering, and project management office (PMO) teams all need agents that assist or autonomously complete tasks, too.

But there’s no single best AI agent for business. The best option is the one that simplifies the tasks in front of you and moves work forward. Open-ended research calls for a different pick than CRM-heavy service work or no-code automations. The tool (or tools) you choose should meet your needs and help you achieve your business goals.

In our roundup of the best AI agents for business, we cover the top options, which we’ve grouped into four use case buckets so you can make a decision based on the job you need done.

AI agents vs. AI assistants and tools

An AI agent acts with some autonomy. It can plan a project, triage incoming work, update drafts, or resolve a service case without constant oversight. An AI assistant or chatbot responds to what you ask it, one prompt at a time. This page covers agents that take real business actions and not general AI business tools and productivity apps.

What makes a good AI agent for business

A good business AI agent does three things well:

  • It acts inside the systems your team already relies on.

  • It’s built for business use, with a focus on security and governance.

  • It’s trusted and adopted by other brands (meaning it’s more than just a demo).

Our list of the best AI agent platforms covers tools that meet these criteria and doesn’t include every agent framework.

How we chose the best tools

The AI agent tools in our list act autonomously or semi-autonomously on business tasks and are built for business use. We categorized the top tools into four buckets: general-purpose and drafting tools, enterprise AI agents, no-code automation builders, and work-execution agents.

We grouped our list by category because the “best” option depends entirely on what you need it to do. And though we’ve included “best for” tags for each vendor, each claim is based on documented capabilities, vendor documentation, third-party reviews, and (when necessary) hands-on use.

We did not include developer-facing agent frameworks in this list. The tools engineering teams use to build agents from scratch use different buying criteria than the agents featured on this page.

What each tool's AI does, and whether you pay extra

Many of these tools come bundled with standard subscriptions (with additional add-on or metered options for some). However, how much is included and what counts as “extra” varies by vendor.

1. Asana AI Teammates

Best for running cross-functional work with agents on one plan

Asana AI Teammates are work-execution agents that run within your project plan and portfolio. More than 30 prebuilt AI Teammates come ready to use, and you can customize these prebuilt agents or build your own for specific workflows. As a part of Agentic Work Management with Asana, they’re grounded in the Work Graph® and they act in context, using data from your real projects, tasks, fields, and statuses to inform their actions. AI Teammates also work in multiplayer workflows, where humans and agents work on the same plan.

  • Where it's strong: AI Teammates can create tasks and assign owners, synthesize portfolio statuses and risk, triage incoming requests, and execute work, like building briefs and generating content. They operate across connected apps, including Slack, HubSpot, Databricks, and Gmail, and access is permissions-aware, consistent with how the rest of your plan is secured.

  • Where it falls short: AI Teammates are not general-purpose assistants, and their value depends on your running your work in Asana.

    • Advanced: $24.99/user/mo. annual ($30.49 monthly)

2. ChatGPT

Best for open-ended reasoning and research

ChatGPT is OpenAI’s general-purpose assistant. Its agentic features help it carry out multi-step tasks, from filling out forms and running code to drafting content and managing schedules.

  • Where it's strong: With a large connector ecosystem (including an Asana and ChatGPT integration) and broad reasoning, ChatGPT quickly iterates on research and analysis without needing a structured workflow.

  • Where it falls short: It isn’t grounded in your company’s records by default, and getting it to act reliably on your data takes effort.

3. Claude

Best for analysis, long documents, and coding work

Claude is Anthropic’s general-purpose model family, built for reasoning across complex material like contracts and research reports. Claude Code, a dedicated coding agent, extends that same reasoning to software work, planning and executing multi-step engineering tasks.

  • Where it's strong: Handling long context with step-by-step reasoning and multi-step execution.

  • Where it falls short: Even with a library of connectors (including Asana in Claude), pairing it with your own data and tools takes effort, as it’s not natively connected to business systems.

  • Best for: Teams with a high number of analysis, writing, coding, or software development tasks.

  • Pricing:

    • Team standard seat: $20/mo. annual ($25 monthly)

    • Team premium seat: $100/mo. annual ($125 monthly)

Best for Google Workspace-native work

Gemini is a family of AI models built by Google and natively connected to Workspace apps, including Google Docs, Sheets, Gmail, and Meet. It can reason across text, images, and videos in the same task, and its autonomous enterprise agent expands into multi-step task execution.

  • Where it's strong: Multimodal understanding (including videos and images) and reach across Google’s apps.

  • Where it falls short: Its enterprise agent tooling is less established than other options, especially outside the Google ecosystem.

5. Salesforce Agentforce

Best for CRM and service automation

Agentforce is Salesforce’s agent layer for its CRM, and it’s designed to handle tasks like resolving service cases and qualifying leads. Agents run with varying degrees of autonomy, and they act directly on your real-time data, so its recommendations and actions are grounded in the same sales productivity and service numbers your teams use.

  • Where it's strong: A native connection to Salesforce Data 360 and built-in governance for teams already running sales or service on the platform.

  • Where it falls short: Agentforce isn’t built to coordinate general project work or cross-functional plans outside Salesforce.

  • Pricing:

    • Salesforce Foundations: $0/user/mo.

    • Flex Credits: $500/100,000 credits

Microsoft Copilot brings AI into the Microsoft 365 apps many teams already use, from drafting in Word to summarizing threads in Outlook. Copilot Studio extends further, offering teams a low-code environment to build and deploy additional autonomous and semi-autonomous agents or rules-based bots.

  • Where it's strong: Native integrations with Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, and other Microsoft 365 apps.

  • Where it falls short: Its capabilities become narrower outside the Microsoft stack.

7. Lindy

Best for no-code cross-app workflows

Lindy takes plain, non-technical language and builds AI agents that plug into everyday tools, including Slack and Gmail. Using Lindy, you can build agents that handle recurring work, like triaging inbound messages or routing requests to the right person. Lindy also offers prebuilt templates for common jobs, shortening the time between deciding to automate something and having it running.

  • Where it's strong: Fast, no-code setup for cross-app automations, with a free credit balance to start.

  • Where it falls short: The work that Lindy automates still has to live somewhere, so you need a separate CRM or project-planning tool.

  • G2 Rating: 4.9 | 171 reviews

  • Best for: Teams with few engineering resources that want to automate recurring workflows.

  • Choose something else if: You want an agent natively grounded in your CRM or your project plan.

8. Zapier Agents

Best for automation across 9,000+ apps

Zapier Agents go beyond the base platform’s rule-based automations, where you can delegate real work to an agent capable of making judgment calls. Where a classic Zap fires the same way every time, an agent can look at the specifics of a situation and decide what to do next across multiple steps. This acts as a layer on top of Zapier’s existing library of integrations, so an agent can reach nearly any tool your team already has connected.

  • Where it's strong: Its breadth of app connectors, including an Asana and Zapier integration, so almost any SaaS tool your team already uses can be wired into an automation.

  • Where it falls short: No depth of grounding, so it won’t replace an agent built natively into your CRM or project plan.

  • G2 Rating: 4.5 | 2,088 reviews

  • Best for: Teams that need to connect and automate workflows across many different apps without code.

  • Choose something else if: Your priority is depth inside one system rather than breadth across many.

  • Pricing:

    • Agents Free: $0/mo.

    • Agents Pro: $33.33/mo. annual ($50 monthly)

    • Agents Enterprise: Custom pricing

  • How is AI Billed:

9. Gumloop

Best for building visual multi-LLM workflows

Gumloop is a visual canvas for building AI-powered workflows where you can drag, connect, and configure nodes while pulling and formatting outputs without writing code. By design, it’s not based on a single model, letting each workflow draw on multiple LLMs (depending on which best fits each use case).

  • Where it's strong: Gumloop is a flexible, modular canvas that’s approachable for building multi-step automations.

  • Where it falls short: Since Gumloop is a general workflow builder, you need to wire in the context that it needs.

  • G2 Rating: 4.8 | 7 reviews

  • Best for: Technical and semi-technical teams that want to design custom, multi-step AI workflows.

  • Choose something else if: You want a pre-built, business-ready agent rather than a self-assembled workflow.

  • Pricing:

    • Pro: $37/mo.

    • Enterprise: Custom pricing

  • How is AI Billed:

    • Included, metered.

    • Usage beyond the 20,000 included credits is billed separately at $0.005/credit.

10. Relevance AI

Best for building custom agent teams

Relevance AI is a low-code platform with specialized agents built to work together to handle complex work. You can assemble individual agents for different jobs, like research, drafting, qualification, and outreach, then connect them into a coordinated team. This team then hands off work from one agent to the next as a plan progresses, supporting multi-step processes.

  • Where it's strong: Relevance AI is purpose-built for multi-agent setups and collaborative processes.

  • Where it falls short: It’s a toolkit for assembling agents, not a pre-built one for a specific job.

  • G2 Rating: 4.3 | 20 reviews

  • Best for: Teams ready to design and manage multiple coordinated agents for complex processes.

How to choose the right AI agent for your business

The fastest way to narrow this list is to start with the job, then check it against where your work already lives.

Start with the job

Before you compare tools, nail down your needs. Use the questions below to identify the job and constraints that matter most to your team.

Question

What job do you want the agent to do?

Consider: Open-ended work, CRM and service work, cross-app automation, and running your plan.

Where does your work and data live?

If your data lives on a platform that supports an AI agent, such as Google, Microsoft, Salesforce, or Asana, consider adopting their tool for a simplified integration.

How autonomous must the AI agent be?

Consider whether your AI agent needs to assist (by creating drafts and making suggestions) or act unattended (by executing projects, routing requests, and updating plans automatically).

What governance do you need?

Prioritize the permissions, data-training policy, audit trail, and admin control necessary to protect your and your client’s data.

What pricing model fits?

Compare per-seat, consumption, and custom pricing options, and verify how pricing scales with usage.

Match the agent to your situation

Once you know the job, you can match the tool to your needs. Using the table below, find the scenario that fits your team and start your evaluation there.
